The challenge
Before Humming Web, Anthony had invested in a digital marketing agency. The result: money spent, no meaningful leads, no transparency around what was actually happening with his budget. He could not understand what he was paying for or whether the campaigns were working.
By the time he came to us, he was deeply sceptical of the entire industry. He had already concluded that Meta Ads probably did not work for his type of business. Getting leads for a car broker service requires finding people at the exact right moment — considering selling, buying or financing — and that audience is notoriously difficult to target without experience.
The brief was not just to run better ads. It was to earn back trust by being transparent, explaining every decision, and delivering results he could actually verify.
- Budget spent with no qualified leads to show for it
- No transparency on what the campaigns were actually targeting
- Enquiries that came in were unqualified — wrong audience entirely
- No clear reporting — impossible to connect spend to results
Our approach
We did not patch the previous campaign. We started from scratch — new campaign architecture, new audience strategy, new creative and a clear reporting structure that Anthony could verify himself at any time.
- Full rebuild — no shortcuts: Scrapped everything from the previous agency. New campaign structure, new audiences, new creative, new reporting from day one. No patching — a clean start that removed the baggage of what had failed before.
- In-market automotive targeting: Targeted people actively in-market — car sale intent, car finance research, dealership browsing, vehicle purchase signals. Quality audiences that match the people actually looking to buy, sell or finance a car right now.
- Qualified lead forms: Form questions designed to qualify intent at submission — what service (buy/sell/finance), vehicle details, timeline. Filters out casual browsers so Anthony only receives enquiries from people who are genuinely ready to transact.
- Value-led creative: Ad copy led with the key promise: no dealership, save money, handled for you. Spoke directly to the frustration of the car-buying experience — a pain point the entire audience shares — and positioned Premium Car Buying as the alternative.
- Finance traffic campaign: Secondary HW | Traffic - Finance campaign drove 228 clicks to the finance page at $1.33/click — building awareness of the finance brokering service among people actively researching car finance who had not yet made contact.
- Transparent reporting: Clear, plain-language monthly reports showing exactly what each campaign delivered, where the budget went, and what changed each month. Anthony could verify everything himself — a direct response to what the previous agency had failed to provide.
The results
Humming Web rebuilt Anthony's Meta Ads from the ground up and delivered 305 qualified enquiries at $14.15 each. In automotive, the industry average is $50 to $150+. For a service worth $3,000+ per transaction, every lead costs 200 times less than its potential value.
The lead generation campaign delivered 305 qualified leads via the Instant Lead Form at a cost per lead of $14.15 — 70–90% below the automotive benchmark of $50–$150+ — from a total ad spend of $4,316 (AUD), 110,851 impressions and 38,252 unique reach.
At just 3% conversion — 9 deals from 305 leads — that is $27,000+ in transaction value from $4,316 in ad spend. Even 1% conversion means 3 deals worth $9,000 from the same budget.
Anthony came to Humming Web having already lost faith in digital marketing. Three months later he had 305 qualified leads, clear reporting he could verify, and a consistent pipeline of car buy, sell and finance enquiries. The previous agency created the scepticism. The results dissolved it.
“I'd already wasted money with another agency and got nothing useful back. I came to Humming Web sceptical. They rebuilt everything, explained what they were doing and why — and the leads actually started coming in. Qualified people, genuine enquiries. I wish I had switched sooner.”
